The Killing of a Sacred Deer(2017) by Yorgos Lanthimos

The Killing of a Sacred Deer is an unsettling, weird, and mysterious film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos; starring Nicole Kidman, Colin Farrell, Barry Keoghan and others.

The film sets an uncomfortable tone and puts you in a position of tension at the very beginning. The dialogue delivery is very off-putting and un stylized and will keep the audience speculating and waiting to know what's going on. Each scene withholds information and details, most satisfyingly, divulging the viewer into utmost cluelessness- making them yearn for more.

Steven (Colin Farrell) is a successful surgeon whose life slowly falls apart after the behaviour of a teenage boy that he cares for turns violent and sinister, forcing him to make a shocking, unthinkable decision which he'll never forget.

Each character is so well written that you'll be floored with just the precision of acting and dialogue delivery in this film. Steven's character might just be one of the best-written characters I've seen on screen. From scene one till the end, the story unwinds into the most puzzling sequence of events, each scene holding more information than the other about the big question mark.

Just when you think you've figured out the plot, there's more. The whole film might make no sense, and I mean this in the best way possible way. It's two hours of well-written, beautiful chaos. Just like Dogtooth, The Lobster, and many other similarly-themed movies, Yorgos has graced us with another bizarre, brilliantly crafted film.
